Bog (Portach) is the first piece of the my textile series (in progress) Song for Ireland (Amhrán d'Éirinn).
The piece was created in November 2017.
Materials: linen yarn, lokta paper, up-cycled paper packages, metallic thread, Crocosmia
Dimensions: 30.5 x 29.5cm.
I started working on the Song for Ireland (Amhrán d'Éirinn) at the end of 2017. I wanted to create a series of woven pieces related to characteristic environments of my adoptive country.

The inspiration for the series were my photographs taken in various locations in Ireland on my numerous trips and walks. I am particularly interested in reflecting in my art distinctive and contrasting layers of structures. For this purpose I am using various weaving techniques as well as knitting and other textile production processes.
I am inclined to use natural and up-cycled fibres: linen, lokta paper, paper packages. In the series Song for Ireland I am also incorporating plants, seaweeds and objects I found in the places which are subjects of particular art pieces, e.g. in the Bog I used Crocosmia stalks and leaves.
